With Golden Age comics compared to their more modern counterparts how many of you are much more accepting of restoration? Often good restoration can often fall under conservation depending on the work done too. Or is restoration for you an absolute no go regardless of the amount or the book? I can understand both sides of the debate. Personally, I think it depends on the degree and quality of the restoration. With Golden Age comics, it’s almost inevitable that some level of restoration is necessary given their age and condition, and well executed restoration can sometimes be indistinguishable from an untouched copy, which I think is acceptable, especially when the book has historical significance. On the other hand, if the restoration is too heavy handed or impacts the book’s overall integrity or appearance, it can detract from its value and collectibility. I just am not a fan of books that have been restored within an inch of their lives. I can understand both sides of the debate.
