Collectibles: Emotional Anchors

My good friend and I often discuss the pull that collectibles have on us. Why do we always return to them, drawn to relics from our past?
Below is the best way I can express it for myself. I'd love to hear others' perspectives.

''Collectibles are frozen in time. They don’t feel, they don’t change, yet they have the power to stir emotions we thought were long gone.

They hold up a mirror to a chapter of our lives that has since passed, but they remain unchanged. Perhaps that’s why they offer us a sense of security, a constant in a world that is always shifting''.

Think Yr quote was bang on. I got this bk in the 80s when I was working at comic shop, it's made out ceramics and its moved with me numerous times but still intact. Everytime I look at it brings back memories of working in the shop which was one best jobs I ever had, not most in salary but most enjoyable

Love it...and how many people have that same story I wonder.
